Hi there,
I always liked this quote from the film Titanic (1997).
Old Rose says: “A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets. But now you know there was a man named Jack Dawson, and that he saved me in every way that a person can be saved.”
First I see a metaphore but what kind of literary device is the last part?
Hi,
Yes, there are two literary devices used in this quote:
The last part uses parallelism, in which the components of a sentence are similar in construction, meaning and sound. It brings balance and rhythm and makes the sentence persuasive by using repetition.
Another literary device is diacope, which is a type of repetition of words by using intervening words in between.
