The title of chapter 22 as, “Fire and Ice” gives the readers a hint to the identity of fire and ice in the narrative. This title refers to Robert Frost’ poem “Fire and Ice.” In fact, it describes a night when our love trio got together in a tent in woods. There rages a snowstorm outside and very harsh weather seems to bring the world to an end. Bella would surely have ended up with ice, as it would have frozen her to death. However, again, like many times before, her sun Jacob saves her from this misery. Hence, it clears the point that Jacob symbolizes fire and Edward ice.
