Language device for specific word choice?

For example, if the persona in the poem says “I rose”, it suggests an innocence similar to a rose due to the wording. Is there a specific language device (other than diction) that I can use with my analysis or is it just diction?

Thanks for the help.

Yes, it is the literary device homograph in which the words have similar spellings, but different meanings and oftentimes different pronunciation. For instance, in your example, the word “rose” is a flower and verb too, both have same spellings but different meanings.
