What do these meam “||”?

I was reading the definition of caesura and noticed the use of “||” in the examples, however I’m uncertain what they indicate.

I’m assuming that they mean a break in a poem, a new verse.

Thank you

Caesura is a pause or break in a poetic line, which is indicated by these two lines “||” or just a symbol to represent caesural breaks.

So, simply put, they indicate pause or break, whether that breaks come near the middle, at the beginning or at the end of the lines.
