Can you describe the central conflict in Miller’s play “Death of a Salesman?”
Yes, undoubtedly, the American Dream failure is the biggest conflict in this play, yet I have noticed another important conflict: a conflict between dream and reality. For instance, Willie thinks that being “well liked” could be the way to become a successful salesman. We however, cannot understand from the narrative that he was a good salesman ever, means he was merely an ordinary “drummer,” doing something at which he was not good at all, and placing his faith in things that may never happen.
