Former American President Ronald Reagan has used art of persuasion in this speech and we can see clearly the use of a rhetorical device, expletive construction, which uses grammatical words such as “here, there and it”, etc at the beginning of the sentences or clauses. You can notice “where”, and “there” have appeared at the beginning of above-mentioned clauses. The purpose of these words is to fill the sentences and clauses without giving any sense or meaning. However, writers use them to lay emphasis and highlight the text.
