According to Christians from every denomination, the Bible is a book written or guided to be written by God. It is widely understood that God has created man to tell the story of His creation and then testify his thoughts and chores. For man, He has created the universe as explained in His books. He wants to make man realize how sin enters the world and the redemption that is found through Jesus Christ and his salvation. God has described in the Bible that how the people of God should live. Through his books, we came to know what is right and what is wrong. No doubt evil always attracts man because it is padded with many bewitching and charming magnetism. Here lies the point where God judges the observant and rebellious. Apart from the Ten Commandments, there are many rules and laws given in the Old Testament. Homosexuality is one of the things that is not allowed in the Bible, which is similar to almost all ancient religions.
Homosexuality is not promoted in the Bible
God has forbidden homosexuality, for sex, He has ordered to marry the opposite sex and fulfill your needs with him/her. While homosexuality has been known to exist in secret for centuries, the Bible acknowledges a relationship between a man and woman in marriage.
That evening the two angels came to the entrance of the city of Sodom. Lot was sitting there, and when he saw them, he stood up to meet them. Then he welcomed them and bowed with his face to the ground. “My lords,” he said, “come to my home to wash your feet, and be my guests for the night. You may then get up early in the morning and be on your way again.” “Oh no,” they replied. “We’ll just spend the night out here in the city square.” But Lot insisted, so at last they went home with him. Lot prepared a feast for them, complete with fresh bread made without yeast, and they ate. But before they retired for the night, all the men of Sodom, young and old, came from all over the city and surrounded the house. They shouted to Lot, “Where are the men who came to spend the night with you? Bring them out to us so we can have sex with them!” Genesis 19:1-11
“Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.” Leviticus 18:22
“If a man practices homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman, both men have committed a detestable act. They must both be put to death, for they are guilty of a capital offense.” Leviticus 20:13
No place for same-sex marriage
As for same-sex “marriage,” we see no place for it within the context of a Christian worldview. According to the Bible, marriage is heterosexual by definition. Jesus, when expressing his understanding of the scriptural foundation for the divine purpose and design in marriage, referred to its origins in the Creation account.
“From the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh…” Mark 10:6-8, quoting Genesis 2:24
Homosexuality is the outcome of lust
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way, the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.” Roman 1:26-27
In this passage, Paul says that having sex with someone of the same gender is a sin. Some interpret this passage as a reference to heterosexuals who exchanged their natural sexual orientation for that which was not natural to them. The word that Paul uses for “natural” does not refer to what is natural to a specific person, but moreover what is natural in light of God’s intent for the sexual design of humanity.
Bible has no middle ground for homosexuality
“Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” Leviticus 18:22:
God’s prohibition always has positive intentions. While no longer under the Law, Christians see the Law as a moral compass with principles for holy living. The Bible doesn’t have middle and fertile ground on same-sex relationships, monogamous or not. God reserves secure sex for marriage between a man and woman, because sex is a unique foundation of intimacy. Sex which is the foundation of social structure, but homosexuals make it selfish and manipulative.
It also says that sinful nature will not allow people to inherit the kingdom of God, that is, heaven.
“Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God” Corinthians 6:9-10
These words are found in Greek translation. Here Lord has set the vivid rules for the people who want to inherit the Kingdom of God.
“He put away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.” 1 Kings 15:12
God will punish disobedient in this world and hereafter
As per the Bible, God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. Their minds are dark and confused but they a claim to be wise.
“And don’t forget Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring towns, which were filled with immorality and every kind of sexual perversion. Those cities were destroyed by fire and serve as a warning of the eternal fire of God’s judgment.” Jude 1:7
Christians believe Jesus came to give himself as a sacrifice for all peoples so that we could escape our corruption and reconnect with God. This plan was announced at the beginning of human history, so we have to sacrifice our emotions and choose the right path for the right ending. Make ourselves obedient to God so that he will be happy with us and consider us reward winners at the end. However, over the years the progress is seen among many countries, especially many Christians who have become accepting and welcoming towards same-sex relationships. In the end, it is a choice made by an individual and all opinions must be respected.
