Subject terminology

A simile has a word like or as and metaphor has not. Both show a comparison but a comparison means clear contrast for difference similarities while metaphors and similes do not show these contrasting points.

What are adverbs?

Please google again. It is a grammar term, not a literary device. However, for your benefit, it is a word that add meanings to verbs such as work continuously where the first is verb and second is adverb.
